Beyond I CAN Gallery and Gift Shop
The Beyond I CAN program is dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals who have disabilities and gifts through the experience of running their own business, from artistic design and production to marketing and sales. Enhancing the quality of their lives due to self-confidence built on real abilities instead of focusing on their disabilities, the participants experience a natural transition from the world of school to the world of adult living via the Beyond I CAN Gallery and Gift Shop.
“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of it for someone else.” Benjamin Franklin
The Beyond I CAN program offers participants the opportunity to learn vocational and life skills that will help them contribute to the community while developing self-respect and the highest level of self-sufficiency. Workers develop an artistically based line of products they display and market in their gallery and online gift shop. This program serves as a model to mainstream business of how individuals with special needs can contribute in the workforce. Read quotes from some of our participants.
Goals:
- to promote, educate, and create awareness of individuals with disabilities and gifts
- to facilitate partnerships and collaborations that stimulate new thinking concerning individuals with disabilities
- to provide work areas where individuals with disabilities can operate a business and learn responsibilities related to their world
